How CarrierDaily counts new trucking applicants
What we count
A row is a new FMCSA operating-authority application (an applicant, not yet authorized to operate) or a new authority grant published on a feed day. Rows are deduplicated by docket number.
A feed day is the date of the FMCSA data we processed, not the date you read it. Data usually updates by about 8 AM Mountain on business days, depending on when FMCSA publishes.
What "no BIPD filing on file" means
A row counts as having no BIPD (liability insurance) filing on file in FMCSA data when no liability (BIPD) insurance filing appears in FMCSA's public insurance data for that docket on the feed day.
Applicants aren't required to file insurance until FMCSA is ready to grant authority, so many applicants will file soon or already have coverage that isn't filed yet. The count is not a statement that any carrier lacks coverage or is operating unlawfully.
Sources
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) data published on data.transportation.gov: the daily authority history (dm5j-zc6c), carrier (nakq-58th), insurance (x96h-evps), insurance history (xe5s-wca7), BOC-3 (mhr5-hjyc) and revocation/suspension (e67p-xyd5) files, plus the full authority history (yu5v-wbh6) for backfill and the Company Census (az4n-8mr2).
We use no data from outside FMCSA/DOT. CarrierDaily is not affiliated with or endorsed by FMCSA or the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Date range
Applicant history starts on about September 25, 2026. Grant history goes back further through FMCSA's authority history file. Figures that need 30 or more days of applicant history (for example median days to grant or dismissal rates) aren't published until that history exists.
Comparisons
The weekly report compares this week's weekdays so far with the same weekdays of the prior week (for example Monday to Wednesday against the prior Monday to Wednesday). State pages compare the last 7 business days with the 7 business days before that. When a comparison window is incomplete, we don't show a percentage.
What we leave out
Public pages, free samples and free emails don't include phone numbers, emails or officer names. The paid feed includes business phone and business email from FMCSA filings where available, and officer names for registered companies; these may be personal phones or emails and are not checked against the Do Not Call Registry. Individual applicants' rows never include a name or street address; paid plans may include the phone and email they filed with FMCSA. This screening is automated and may not catch every case. A carrier can remove its contact details, or its whole record, at /removal. We flag numbers that are likely mobile so you can follow calling rules.
Public pages and press snapshots show aggregate counts only, with no carrier rows.
Removals
Anyone listed can ask to be removed at carrierdaily.com/removal or by emailing hello@carrierdaily.com. We stop including the record right away and complete valid requests within 10 business days. Removed dockets are left out of every file, sample and page that lists rows from then on.

Column definitions
sole_prop=Y: the carrier appears to be an individual; treat the phone as residential and personal for TCPA and Do Not Call. line_type (mobile / likely_mobile / unknown) and line_type_source come from the carrier's FMCSA filing or public numbering data; they aren't verified, so check before calling. line_type: mobile (the carrier listed it as its cell in its FMCSA filing), likely_mobile (originally a wireless number block; may be ported), or unknown (not determined; may still be a cell). line_type_source: fmcsa_filing, numbering_block, or none. line_type_checked_on: date of the source data. Not verified. Verify before calling, and follow calling rules for every number.
