What it means for agents
New ventures are the one segment of trucking insurance where the buyer has no incumbent. The insurers above are the ones binding them; if your markets are losing share, your quotes are arriving late. CarrierDaily delivers each day's new applicants with contact fields and insurance status so you can quote before the first filing lands.

Methodology
A "new-authority filing" is the first liability (BIPD) insurance filing recorded for a carrier, attributed to the month it was filed and to the insurer named on the filing. Share is that insurer's filings divided by all first filings in the month; the top insurers by six-month volume are listed. "Carriers lost" counts insurance-cancelled and insurer-replaced events against the insurer that held the policy. Suspensions count carriers with a "suspended: no insurance on file" event in the 30 days ending 2026-09-30. State volumes count FMCSA authority publications and grants with a business address in the state. Insurer names are normalized across spellings. Figures can change as FMCSA revises its files; a report is frozen when the month is first published.
