How long an insurance cancellation takes to take effect
The 30-day rule for FMCSA filings and how CarrierDaily counts pending cancellations.
What the public record shows
- Under 49 CFR 387.313 an insurer's cancellation of a BMC-91/91X filing is effective 30 days after FMCSA receives the BMC-35 (35 days for certain filings in older rules).
- CarrierDaily's hubs count cancellations filed in the last 30 days; the receipt shows each with its filing date and insurer.

Questions
Can the carrier cancel earlier?
