Shared identifiers across DOT records
How phone, address, email and officer-name matches are computed on one-way hashes, and what a match does and does not mean.
Phone and cell numbers are normalized to E.164, emails lower-cased (free webmail domains excluded from domain matching), street addresses to USPS abbreviations with unit numbers removed, officer names to sorted tokens. Each value is replaced by a one-way hash before it is stored; matches are computed between hashes. No phone, email or address value is kept or shown.
56,487 DOT records have identifiers on file; 2,845 (5.0%) share a phone or address with at least one other record (2026-10-25T17:58:34+00:00). A match counts the other records and how many carry an authority action or cancellation in 24 months. Shared values are common for legitimate reasons: registered agents, shared offices, one owner with several authorities.
