Trust Signal Score methodology
How the 0-100 score, the Green/Amber/Red badge and every receipt line are computed from FMCSA public records.
The Trust Signal Score starts at 100 and subtracts fixed amounts for facts on the FMCSA public record; the same facts always give the same score. Badges: Green (No change signals on record), Amber (Recent contact or filing change), Red (Shared identifier with a revoked authority, or a pending insurance cancellation).
Deductions
- Authority not Active: -40 (Red).
- Phone, address, email or officer shared with a DOT record carrying a revocation, suspension or insurance cancellation in 24 months: -35, -5 per further record, capped at -50 (Red).
- Identifier shared with three or more other records, none with an action: -10 (Amber).
- Insurance cancellation within 45 days with no newer filing: -30 (Red).
- Active property authority with no BIPD filing on record: -25 (Red; brokers and forwarders exempt).
- Authority granted or reinstated under 90 days ago: -10 (Amber).
- Contact or name change within 90 days of the grant or reinstatement: -20 (Amber); any change in the last 90 days: -10 (Amber).
- Safety rating Unsatisfactory: -30 (Red); Conditional: -15 (Amber).
- Driver or vehicle out-of-service rate over twice the national average on five or more inspections: -10 (Amber).
Every deduction appears as a receipt line with its FMCSA source and date. Scored so far: 3,031 Red, 4,537 Amber, 48,919 Green (2026-10-25T17:58:34+00:00).
